Three admitted in 24 hours, 19 now under treatment in Sylhet hospitals

No new dengue patient in Nilphamari

SYLHET, Sept 17: Amid further improvement on the overall dengue situation, three patients were admitted to the different hospitals in the Sylhet division including the Sylhet city during the last 24 hours ending at 8: 00 am on Tuesday.

It is sign of much improvement in the region for the last few days, said the officials. Three patients were admitted into the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital (SOMCH) in last 24 hours till this morning while no new admission was there in any of the districts. However, three patients were admitted on the previous day.

Contacted, the Director of Health, Sylhet Debpada Roy told this correspondent this afternoon, the number of dengue patients has come down much and it is below five for the last few days.

It had shown much improvement in Moulvibazar and Sunamganj districts as well as in Sylhet, he said. But dengue remained in Habiganj district, he added.

The director said, the cumulative number of the people diagnosed so far as dengue patients in Sylhet division is 890 while 871 of them had been released from the hospitals after cure.

Of the 19 under-treatment patients, highest 14 were now at the SOMCH while two at the Sylhet district's hospitals and three in Habiganj district hospitals while none was there in the Moulvibazar and Sunamganj district hospitals. The overall situation has improved, the senior official noted.

Our correspondent from Nilphamari adds: There is no new dengue patient in Nilphamari Sadar hospital and upazila health centres in the six upazilas of the district.
