Training for union council chairmen held in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Mar 13: A day-long training on "Standing Committee Affairs" for the union council chairmen, secretaries and chairpersons of standing committee was held at the conference room of Sadar upazila council in the district town on Wednesday.

Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) and Gaibandha Sadar upazila administration arranged the training under SDC Local Governance Programme.

Sharique Helvestas Swiss Intercooperation, Bangladesh provided fund for the training.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) M Abdul Matin inaugurated the training as the chief guest. Deputy director (DD) of BRDB M Abdus Sabur was present at the event as the special guest.

UNO Uttam Kumar Roy presided over the event.

DC M Abdul Matin urged the members of the standing committee to gear up their activities and work for the people as per the decision of the committee.

The participants were imparted training on importance of standing committee, directions of committee forming, meeting of standing committee, and its activities.

A total of 50 union council chairmen, secretaries and chairpersons of standing committee took part in the training.
