Two bird poachers fined

NATORE, Nov 19 (BSS): A mobile court in Singra upazila here fined two bird poachers Tk 10,000 for trapping birds in Chalan Beel on Tuesday.

The accused are Maqbul Hossain, 52, and Dulal Hossain, 35. Both of them are residents of Sayedjur village under Singra upazila.

A mobile court led by Singra Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Mazharul Islam conducted a drive in the Takht Dighi and Belgharia areas of Chalan Beel on Tuesday morning and fined the bird poachers Tk 10,000.

Activists of the Chalan Beel Biodiversity Protection Committee were also present during the drive.

A total of 15 fowl were freed in the Chalan Beel and current nets destroyed.
