Two die from electrocution in Netrakona

NETRAKONA, Nov 05 (BSS): Two persons were electrocuted to death and another person was critically injured at Bakarikanda village under Kalmakanda upazila here on Tuesday morning.

The deceased are Rafiqul Islam, 55, a retired army personnel and son of Sardar Fakir and Sumon Mia, 32, son of Faju Mia. Both of them are the residents of Bakarikanda village.

Officer-in-charge of Kalmakanda police station Firoj Hussain said that Rafiqul Islam came in contact with a live electric wire while he was trying to run an irrigation machine at the courtyard of his house around 11am.

Hearing his screams, his two relatives - Sumon and Jayedul - rushed to the spot to save him, but they also came in contact with the live electric wire.

Local people rescued them and sent to Netrakona Sadar Hospital where attending doctors declared Rafiqul and Sumon dead.

Jayedul is now undergoing treatment at Myme-nsingh Medical College Hospital in a critical state.
