Two die in Habiganj, Gazipur road mishaps

HABIGANJ, Jan 15 (BSS): A farmer was killed and nine others were injured as a microbus collided head-on with a jeep in Ratna Bazar area under Baniachong upazila on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Goni, 45, son of Shaban Ullah, a resident of Tarasoi village of the upazila.

Police said the accident occurred on the Habiganj-Baniachong when the two vehicles collided head-on, leaving 10 micro passengers injured.

Goni died on the way to the Zila sadar hospital. Among the injured three others were sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

Officer-in-charge of Baniachong police station M Mojammel Haque confirmed the matter.

Meanwhile, in Gazipur, an instructor of Kaliganj upazila resource centre was killed in a road accident at Shimulia of Kaliganj upazila on Monday noon.

The deceased was identified as SM Mahbubur Rahman, 48, hailing from Sherpur upazila in Bogra.

Sub-inspector of Kaliganj Police Station Habibur Rahman said a covered-van crashed into the motorbike of Mahbub around 12 noon while he was going to his office from the district town, leaving him dead on the spot.

The vehicle sped away after the accident.
