Two killed in Naogaon clash over felling trees

NAOGAON, Apr 10 (UNB): Two people were killed and ten others injured in a clash between two groups over felling trees in Niamatpur upazila of Naogaon district on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Shariful islam, 55, son of Osir Ali, and Azizul Haque, 55, son of Afser Ali of Budhuria Dangapara in the upazila.

Quoting witnesses, Habibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Niamatpur Police Station, said Saiful Islam and Lal Chan of the village had been at loggerheads over the ownership of some trees located between the boundary lands of the two groups. On Wednesday, Saiful felled a Mahogany tree on his side, triggering an altercation.
