Two killed over land dispute in Bandarban

BANDARBAN, Feb 5 (UNB): A couple was shot dead by their rivals over a disputed land in Ankhiram Tripurapara village in Lama upazila here on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Francis Tripura, 35, and his wife Hanspati Tripura, 25.

Witnesses said Francis had a long standing dispute with his neighbour Bagera Tripura over a piece of land.

When Francis and his wife Hanspati were working on the disputed land on Wednesday morning Bagera resisted them. At one stage, Bagera fired several rounds of gunshots at the couple and also chopped both of them with sharp weapons, leaving them dead on the spot.
