Two tourists missing in Bandarban

BANDARBAN, June 30 (BSS): Two local tourists went missing while crossing Paindu Khal at Tinapsaitar area of Roangchhari Upazila here yesterday.

Officer in Charge of Roangchhari thana Shariful Islam said the incident took place yesterday evening when six tourists were crossing the Paindu Khal after visiting Tinapsaitar area.

Four of them could come across the canal but two tourists washed away as the canal was flowing with full current at that time because of heavy rain and onrush water from upstream.

The missing tourists were identified as Sub Lieutenant of Bangladesh Navy Saifullah and Jannat Ara begum, a student of Banophul Green Art College of Mirpur, Dhaka.

UNO of Roangchhari Upazila said he came to know about the incident, but yet to get its details.

He however said, the tourists went visiting Tinapsaitar area yesterday morning without informing local police or upazila administration which is mandatory for tourists.
