Two workers die as crane collapses

RAJSHAHI, Apr 15 (BSS): Two construction workers were killed as a crane collapses on them at an under-construction building at Shah Makhdum area on Sunday.

According to local police, the deceased were identified as Mostafizul Islam, 22, of Thakurmara-Sutahati area of the city and Babu Miah, 35, of Ishwardi upazila of Pabna district.

Quoting witnesses, Zillur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shahmukhdum Police Station, said the crane fell suddenly on them when they were working at the site of the multi-storey building of Rajshahi Technical Training Centre (TTC) around 9:30 am.

Mostafizul died on the spot while Babu succumbed to his injuries at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital around noon.

The project is being implemented with financial support of a Korean donor agency.

OC Zillur Rahman said the bodies were sent to hospital morgue for post mortem.
