Youth hacked to death in Khulna

KHULNA, Oct 02 (UNB): A young man was hacked to death, allegedly by his rivals, in Khanbari area of Sonadanga upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Shahidul Islam Russel, 18, son of Robiul Sheikh of the area.

Md Shakiluzzaman, additional deputy commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), said Russel was killed following previous feud over establishing supremacy in the area.

Locals said the incident took place around 6pm when Russel along with another youth was riding a motorcycle towards Khan Bari area from Sonadanga bus terminal.

When he reached Khan Bari, miscreants swooped on him and hacked him indiscriminately before fleeing the spot.

Doctors pronounced Russel dead when he was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Shakiluzzaman said they are trying to arrest the killers.
