A real hero!

A disturbing video report has surged across social media platforms, revealing that the Upazila Agriculture Officer of Nokla, in the Sherpur district, was physically assaulted by a local student leader affiliated with the Nationalist Students' Union, a faction of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. The assault not only harmed the agricultural officer but also sent shockwaves throughout the entire cadre of government officials in the nation.

As a former officer in that post, I am profoundly shocked and dismayed at how such an incident could occur. The incident glaringly shows what challenges a government official faces in maintaining impartiality while executing their duties. We respectfully appeal to the appropriate authorities to take immediate action, impose a stringent penalty on the perpetrator, ensure such incidents are never repeated, and facilitate the transfer of the victim with honour.

The culture of impunity fosters a multitude of grievous acts that impede the effective functioning of government machinery, and ultimately, the nation bears the consequences.

By steadfastly upholding the principles and regulations of government policy, the young fellow has faced direct assault, but he emerged as a real hero!
