A safe campus is essential

Attacks on students are never expected in an educational institution like a university. Recently, a sudden attack on students at the University of Chittagong by local residents has caused a fear psychosis among parents and students regarding campus security. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident; students at various universities across the country have also been victims of assaults and injuries.

Ensuring 24-hour security for students outside the campus is challenging. Therefore, universities should be made fully residential and the entry of outsiders without permission must be strictly controlled. For enhanced safety, it is necessary to increase the number of CCTV cameras and ensure round-the-clock monitoring. At the same time, campuses should provide essential facilities, including food stalls and other services, to reduce students' need to leave campus frequently.

Above all, it is time to transform university campuses into safe, student-friendly spaces where learning can thrive without fear.
