Addressing child labour

December 04, 2021 00:00:00

Children are our future. So, their upbringing and well-being must be prioritised. They should be drawn towards education and recreational activities so that they can contribute to society and economy later. Unfortunately, at present many children in Bangladesh are forced into labour due to the impacts of Covid-19 pandemic.

Child labour is aggravating and poses a grave threat to the prosperity and progress of the country. Earnings from child labour may provide some relief to the families in the short term, however, in the long term, this will be detrimental to both the child and society at large. The surge of child labour will spiral out of control if initiatives are not taken immediately. So, we request the relevant authorities to take swift measures to address and remove this menace from our society as much as possible.
