Adulterated foods in super shops
February 27, 2019 00:00:00
The other day I was watching a video clip of the law enforcers of the country, who seized expired meats, dry fishes, dates, fruits, cheese and many other items. Some items were expired in 2009 and they were still there for sale. Those items were kept for sale all over the city including in big super shops.
Safe food is a basic necessity of the citizens and it is a shame that the unscrupulous people are playing with public health with impunity. Light punishment does not refrain people from getting involved in food adulteration. Unsafe foods are causing many deadly diseases. The government should heavily penalise those traders who are involved in this dangerous trade.
Unsafe foods cause many diseases of kidney, liver, skin and stomach. Food adulteration was an unheard-of subject even before two decades, but now we see even vegetables and fruits are not spared from the adulteration menace. We should create awareness so that common people become conscious about food safety.
Today many traders indulge in food adulteration as they are not aware of its deadly consequences. The government must take urgent steps and ensure food safety and thus save the nation from a health catastrophe.
