Airline tickets in the grip of syndicates

February 10, 2026 00:00:00

Air travel is more than just a mode of transportation; it represents the hard-earned journey of migrant workers, a vital step in a student's career, and often the last hope for critically ill patients. But it is ironic that this essential service is now facing a deep crisis.

Abnormal fare hikes, artificial ticket shortages, and the manipulation of the system by intermediary syndicates have pushed air travel beyond the reach of ordinary people. Charging fares above declared rates, showing tickets as unavailable online, and later selling them on the black market have become common practice. Consequently, migrant workers and patients in urgent need of treatment are suffering the most.

This issue is not merely a matter of consumer hardship; it strikes at the heart of the economy, good governance, and social justice. The invisible grip of syndicates over the airline ticket market undermines the dreams and lives of ordinary citizens. In view of the public's plight, it is imperative that the authorities concerned

take immediate action to dismantle these syndicates and restore fairness to the system.
