Beware of online frauds

January 06, 2026 00:00:00

Online business has gained immense popularity in recent years, making daily life more convenient by allowing people to purchase goods and services from home. However, alongside these advantages, a growing menace of online fraud has emerged, posing serious risks to consumers.

Many dishonest sellers lure customers through attractive advertisements on Facebook pages and websites. In numerous cases, advance payments are taken without delivering products, or inferior and substandard goods are supplied. Similarly, fake job offers have become a common tool for fraudsters, who extort registration fees from unsuspecting job seekers, with unemployed youth being the primary victims.

There are several warning signs that can help identify such fraudulent websites. Fraudsters often offer unrealistically low prices for highly profitable products and insist on advance payments. A lack of verifiable contact information or a credible online presence should also raise suspicion.

Greater caution is essential to protect consumers from falling victim to such fraud. Opting for cash-on-delivery, verifying company reviews and ratings, and carefully checking previous customer feedback can significantly reduce risks. Sending advance payments or engaging with suspicious offers should be strictly avoided.
