Bulldozer in Rohingya village

A report published recently in the media says that at least 55 Rohingya villages were razed to the ground by bulldozers of Myanmar army in Rakhine state. Demolition of these villages is a glaring example of crime against humanity in Myanmar. The Human Rights Watch (HRW), the New York-based global watchdog, has already expressed its deep concern over the incident.

Crime against humanity is the worst conceivable crime and is currently one of the most talked-about issues among the international communities. Worse still is the attempt to hide and destroy evidences of inhuman crimes by the Myanmar administration. So far, after atrocities were unleashed against the Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine state, no international organisation or media was allowed to visit the victims or areas of destruction. Total destruction of villages by bulldozers was a classic example of brutality least known in the outside world. This is how the Myanmar authorities have been committing one crime after another. The international community should rise to the occasion and do whatever it can to bring back sanity in Myanmar's attitude and stop recurring crimes against humanity.
