Caution needed in using gas cylinders

March 02, 2026 00:00:00

The use of gas cylinders for daily cooking has risen sharply in both rural and urban areas. Many people prefer gas because it is quick, convenient and time-saving. However, carelessness in handling gas cylinders can lead to fatal accidents.

Incidents such as gas leaks, fires, or explosions are occurring frequently, causing significant risks to life and property. To prevent such accidents, it is essential to follow some basic safety rules. Gas cylinders should always be kept upright in a stable location with adequate ventilation. Regulators, stoves, and pipes must be checked regularly and replaced immediately if any cracks or damage are detected. Pipes generally need replacement every one to two years. If a gas smell is detected, doors and windows should be opened for ventilation without using fire or electrical switches. It is equally important to turn off the stove regulator and gas switch after each use.

By adhering to these precautions, accidents can be avoided, ensuring that gas is used safely and effectively.
