CC cameras can stop cheating in examinations

September 09, 2018 00:00:00

Cheating during public examinations and examinations in schools, colleges and other academic institutions have been a hindrance to the progress of quality education in the country. Despite several initiatives taken by successive governments, cheating in examinations continues unabated.

An initiative can be taken by the government to ensure that all examination halls and classrooms of schools and academic institutions have Closed Circuit (CC) cameras. This will help to identify anyone who cheats. If students have knowledge of a camera recording all activities in a room, there will be slimmer chances for cheating in exams.

There is a wide range of CC cameras available in the local electronics market. They come in various sizes, capacity and prices. Most are affordable and can be easily maintained by authorities of academic institutions.

Also, awareness should be generated among students and their families. Students should understand that cheating can destroy their self-confidence. It can also strip away their willingness to work hard.

Additionally, parents should not create unfair pressure on their offspring to achieve "Good percentage" or "Results". Such pressure forces students to opt for undesirable steps of this kind.

It should be remembered that education is not all about earning good grades. If a passion for learning can be developed, then the nation will significantly prosper.
