Checking Dhaka's mosquito menace

Mosquito bites not only make our lives miserable but also infect us with viral fevers such as dengue, chikungunya and malaria. And there is very little we can do to counter mosquitoes. We try to use a number of insecticide sprays on our own to keep us safe. But despite that in no time mosquitoes in their numbers invade our homes. With the mosquito problem of Dhaka becoming more and more menacing, it seems that the city corporations' measures to control mosquitoes are not effective in many areas of the capital city. Sometimes, mosquito repellent is sprayed in some areas with the fogging machine. But that does not seem to be doing much.

We urge the authorities concerned to procure some effective mosquito-control pesticides and spray them regularly. Otherwise, the number of dengue cases will be increasing further in the city.
