Letters to the Editor

Congratulations, CU for turning 56!

November 20, 2021 00:00:00

The University of Chittagong, one of the finest universities in Bangladesh, has recently celebrated its 56th founding anniversary. The university started its journey on November 18 of 1966 with four departments, seven teachers and 200 students in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram. At present, it has nine faculties, 54 departments, six research centres, and seven institutes where more than 900 teachers are assigned for around 28,000 students. It is the largest university in the country in terms of campus size.

The natural beauty of the university fascinates not only its students but also whoever visits it. The distance from the city to the campus is about 22 kilometres. So, shuttle train was introduced in 1980 for the students, which is the only one for any university in the world. With a long journey of 55 years' success, the higher seat of learning continues to play an important role in the education system of the country. In recent times, teachers and students of CU have made significant contributions to coronavirus tests and research. As of 2020, the university ranks ninth in the country and 3,101st globally. On the Chittagong University Day, we hope this university will continue to contribute more to the country.
