Corruption: No sign of respite
February 07, 2018 00:00:00
CORRUPTION has become so rampant today that existing laws of the country appear grossly inadequate to combat it. Let us create a social movement against corruption which, among other things, are depriving the majority of people of their rights and opportunities.
Alongside social movement, the government should come down hard on corruption to minimise the problems of the tax payers. Unchecked corruption is playing havoc in our country as it is a stumbling block on our road to progress. Corruption has become a normal affair and the corrupt people do not even feel guilty and ashamed of their crimes. Once in our society, corruption was looked down upon and people used to avoid corrupt persons in social gatherings. But no more. Now we see corrupt persons seating in high positions. Only popular resistance, therefore, can drive out the menace of corruption from the country. It is so deep-rooted that a mass uprising is required to combat it successfully.
