Cox's Bazar loses its natural beauty
January 09, 2018 00:00:00
COX'S BAZAR is well known for its very long, sandy beachfront, stretching from sea beach in the north to Kolatoli beach in the south. South of town, the tropical rainforest of Himchari National Park has waterfalls and many birds. In the north, sea turtles breed on nearby Sonadia Island. The beach in Cox's Bazar is sandy and has a gentle slope; with an unbroken length of 155 km (96 miles), it is one of the longest natural sea beaches in the world.
Tourists coming from various places enjoy the natural beauty of this place. But rapidly growing buildings and other structures are destroying the natural beauty and turning the place into a jungle of concrete structures. Open land area is also gradually reducing. Once tourists could visit anywhere they wanted to and enjoy scenic beauty of this place. But because of fast growing structures they are losing their interest to move around. It is being apprehended and understandably so that number of tourists from both home and abroad may soon start sliding down. If buildings are constructed this way, this place will lose its natural beauty entirely. Constructions are taking place here in an unplanned manner which will leave a negative impact on our income from tourism. The relevant ministry of the government should immediately take up the matter with ministries of Works and Local Government so that the area is not further vitiated by unplanned construction of buildings and structures.
