The number of dengue patients in Dhaka city is rapidly rising. Some 12 people have reportedly died from the disease. After being bitten by Aedes mosquitoes, dengue patients show symptoms like high fever, vomiting, muscle and joint pain, rashes etc. The dengue often leads to lower platelet count which can be fatal if not immediately addressed.
People should not panic if they come down with dengue fever. They should immediately see a doctor and have medicine and other items as prescribed by him/her. Some patients need to be hospitalised immediately. Ensuring proper fluid intake is very important for dengue patients.
Moreover, everyone needs to follow some precautionary measures and cleanliness to protect from Aedes mosquitoes responsible for dengue fever.

Initially, dengue fever was not very widespread. Since the Second World War, dengue has reached many countries of the world. It is now prevalent in more than 110 nations, essentially in Asia and South America. Each year somewhere in between 50 and 528 million individuals are infected by the disease. Around 10,000 to 20,000 die every year from it.
At the moment, researchers in the fields of pharmacy are working to find more medicines that can fight dengue more effectively.

Dengue fever, a mosquito-borne disease, is wreaking havoc in Dhaka right now. In most cases, children come down with dengue fever. Studies have shown that children older than six years of age are more likely to be infected by this mosquito-borne virus.
According to Directorate General of Health Services, only 347 people were infected in the two months of 2018. But this year already 5,546 were infected from January 1 to July 18. What's more alarming is that in the entire month of July last year at least 946 people were infected but during the first nine days of July 2019, 1,182 people have already been diagnosed with dengue. A dozen people have already died.
To prevent dengue in Dhaka, maybe, it is time to take some strict steps alike Sri Lanka, where the president himself monitors the situation under a presidential task force. Also, in Sri Lanka, if Aedes larvae are found in someone's home or property, the person is penalised.
