DeepSeek changes AI positively
February 09, 2025 00:00:00
Deep learning (AI) has made it resoundingly clear that it is more than just a passing trend in a world filled with failed technological propositions. This is a remarkable development. Even more notable is that DeepSeek has found a cost-efficient way to provide AI solutions without the cumbersome expenses associated with its close competitors.
Reducing the cost of AI does not hinder adoption; rather, it is likely to increase demand and usage as more businesses gain access to and explore its vast potential. Lower risks and broader accessibility to AI services have positive long-term implications.
Although we have witnessed stock crashes among major tech firms, this reflects a market that is not necessarily rejecting AI but instead seeking more clarity and confidence in its applications. Accessibility, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness could demonstrate that deep learning does not have to be an exorbitantly expensive or unsustainable technology. Moreover, AI should not be monopolised by the West as a tool only viable for competition in developed markets. This challenges the prevailing culture of large-scale investments that dominates Western AI development.
