Diarrhoea outbreak in Jatrabari

The International Centre for Diarrheal Disease and Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) in Dhaka has reportedly been struggling to cope with the number of diarrhoea patients for past several weeks. And a large number of the patients are from Dhaka's Jatrabari area.

The situation is worse than it was ever before; perhaps it is now an epidemic in this particular area. Every household is affected one way or the other and numbers are increasing. The worst victims of this outbreak are children.

We urge the authorities concerned to do the needful. It is an emergency situation. The government should do all that it can to save the people of Jatrabari from this disease.
