Digitise banking service on CU campus

October 30, 2024 00:00:00

Despite the widespread use of information technology throughout the country, the banking activities at the University of Chittagong (CU) still rely on analogue systems. As a result, university students are facing numerous challenges, particularly when it comes to depositing admission and examination fees. Many students have to wait in long queues for hours. This time-consuming process not only adds to their stress but also detracts from their academic commitments, as students often miss classes or important study time while waiting.

Additionally, they are spending extra time and effort on other important banking transactions, such as transferring funds or paying bills, which could be streamlined through modern technology. The level of student suffering is increasing day by day, with many expressing frustration over the inefficiency of the current system. During exam periods, when pressure is at its highest, frustration and criticism among students waiting in line also rise, leading to a negative atmosphere that affects their overall morale.

The university authorities have promised to update the banking system, but this has yet to be implemented. In today's world, mobile banking systems are widely available, allowing students to easily deposit fees and conduct transactions within minutes. Such systems have proven to enhance convenience and efficiency in many educational institutions around the country. Therefore, the university authorities should also consider adopting mobile banking services alongside traditional banking methods.
