'Doob' set to compete in 91st Academy Awards

It is really exciting that noted filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's much-appreciated film 'Doob' (No Bed of Roses) has been officially selected as Bangladesh's entry for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 91st Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars.The Federation of Bangladesh Film Societies is responsible for selecting Bangladesh's entry for the Oscars. They announced the name of Doob, which was competing with 'Komola Rocket', on September 23.

It needs to be mentioned that Farooki is a trendsetter in Bangladesh's visual media industry. His earlier films 'Bachelor,' 'Made in Bangladesh' and 'Television' were liked by viewers and critics alike. Those opened up the avenue for a different kind of film in the country. This is why, many film artistes remain eager to work with him.

In 'Doob', Indian film actor Irrfan Khan and Bangladeshi actress Tisha put in wonderful performances. I am a big fan of Farooqi's movies and I also like Irrfan Khan. As a result, I'm eagerly waiting to see as to how Doob fares in the Oscars against the films from other countries.
