Ensure media freedom

The media is the mirror of society. Ensuring media freedom is the key to upholding the public's right to information and reinforcing the foundation of democracy. Its freedom is essential for maintaining democratic balance in a country. However, biased reporting by some media outlets, restrictions on journalistic professions, threats, pressure, and undue bureaucratic interference are creating a concerning situation. As a result, media freedom is being curtailed, and the space for free thought is shrinking.

Ensuring freedom of expression strengthens democracy and promotes the overall welfare of the public. Media freedom is crucial for building a modern and civilised state. Journalists must have the right to report truthfully and impartially without fear, enabling them to remain committed to uncovering the truth. It is the state's responsibility to foster an environment where the media can operate freely, without external pressures, and contribute to the enrichment of democracy.
