Exercise caution before opening schools
September 13, 2020 00:00:00
The dilemma over whether schools should be opened for allowing children to study is understandable in view of the higher risks to life posed by the pandemic. In our country, too, some people are in favour of reopening schools as students are losing valuable time and most of them are hardly doing anything.
However, let's not be oblivious of the fact that some countries opened schools, but later closed them again. In Bangladesh, such risks are higher because we are yet to get over the first wave of the virus attack. There is no vaccine developed yet and people are reluctant to complying with health protocols. Authorities need to come up with fresh cautionary measures to ensurethe safety of millions before taking a risky decision.
