Facing Facebook

The Facebook has reportedly agreed to duly pay tax in Bangladesh. There was confusion about how the global social media company earns revenue in Bangladesh and if it pays tax. Payment of tax by companies like Facebook is essential also because their activities have to be transparent.

Fcebook chief Mark Zuckerberg had to appear before the US Congress and explain the company's positon and activities. In India, a parliamentary panel also heard a Facebook team. Google was fined in Europe allegedly for violation of competition laws. So, countries like ours need to get prepared to ensure fair practice by platform companies and ensure our fair share of business.
