Fatalities on road

A major cause of the road accidents in Bangladesh is a senseless competition among drivers to overtake each other on busy roads. We saw procession of deaths in road crashes in recent years. As a reaction to such an unbearable situation, students and juveniles took to the streets demanding safe roads.

However, such competition is still there even during the pandemic when not many people come out. Passengers and passers-by are yet to be safe from reckless driving. Maybe, the coronavirus crisis has diverted the attention of the authorities concerned elsewhere, allowing the unruly elements to show lack of respect forroad safety.
