Fire at Malibagh kitchen market

A fire erupted in Malibagh kitchen market on Thursday, gutting at least 200 shops. The loss from the fire was estimated at Tk 50 million. The only solace is that there were no casualties. As the market was located right beside the road, the fire was full doused within three-and-a half hours by the fire-fighters.

We should be prepared to face an emergency situation like this at any moment. Every single public venue should be equipped with fire-fighting tools so that the damage can be significant reduced by nipping the crisis quickly in the bud.

We have been witnessing fire incidents like these since last month. It is high time we took preventive measures against fire incidents.

I hope the government will help the Malibagh kitchen market victims. The government can arrange easy loans for them so that they can re-establish their businesses.
