For a cleaner and greener Dhaka

A clean and green Dhaka has been a long lost dream for its citizens. But the old glory of Dhaka can be regained through the combined and concerted efforts of the government and the people. Dhaka could be a beautiful city again if we keep it clean and tidy. Of late, our city was ranked among the worst liveable cities of the world which clearly indicates our lack of efforts in keeping the city clean. If we were more conscious the situation would have been different. Unfortunately, we do not see any tangible effort in this direction. There is no ongoing campaign to make people conscious about it. If we do not make persistent efforts to create awareness among people about the importance of a clean city, nothing will help. Furthermore, the situation would be far worse in the coming years as Dhaka's population continues to grow. Now there is less green space than is actually required. As citizens we definitely deserve a better atmosphere, but we have to perform our civic responsibilities to ensure it. Let us not forget that cleanliness is an essential part of all religions and is next to godliness.
