Foreigners are helpful for our economy

Many skilled foreigners are working in Bangladesh. There is generally a silent adverse attitude about these people working in the high-ranking positions of companies in some sectors. The notion is that the same positions could have been given to Bangladeshis.

But these foreigners are playing an important role in the Bangladesh economy. Skilled foreigners are helping to create skilled and talented local employees. A company in Bangladesh only hires a foreigner for a job when they cannot find that kind of skilled personnel in the country. When it is absolutely necessary, only then employers seek employees from abroad as it is expensive, involves a lot of paperwork and is a troublesome process.

Skilled people, irrespective of local or foreigners, are a blessing for the economy. A skilled person can help a company to flourish and he or she will create more skilled people. I'm fortunate to have had the pleasure and experience of working with some foreigners. It has helped me a lot in my professional life.

I do not think that when we give a job to a foreigner, we are depriving a local person. Rather, we are helping many locals gain valuable expertise from the skilled foreign employee in the process.
