Guidelines for ride-sharing must not be complicated
February 28, 2019 00:00:00
Ride sharing guideline of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) will soon come into effect. Most commuters of Dhaka are hoping that the guideline will not be very taxing on the ride-sharing companies. This can impact the service itself. BRTA fee and other conditions should be minimum and nominal so that ride-sharing is not affected in anyway.
Since the launch of Uber in Dhaka a few years back, ride-sharing has allowed us to commute properly. I know many people who now use ride-sharing services as it helps them to commute with ease. Ride-sharing also exerts less pressure on public transport.
Besides legalising ride-sharing, the government should improve the public transport sector to alleviate traffic congestion problem that is persisting in the country.
