Helping university students

October 12, 2020 00:00:00

Many of us, as final-year students of a public university, are worried about our future. As the educational institutions remained closed since mid-March to limit the transmission of coronavirus, we are yet to take the Master's final exam which was due in April.

Given the financial constraints many of us are facing, it is impossible for us to stay jobless any longer. Our parents are eagerly waiting for us to shoulder the burden of our families. But we cannot apply as most of the job opportunities require a Master's degree. Many of the universities have been conducting online classes but no exam is being taken. And there is no sign of reopening of the educational institutions anytime soon.

Therefore, we urge upon the authorities concerned to look into the matter with so that we can complete our education as soon as possible and start our career. The government can take special initiative to open opportunities for jobs in public and private sectors. Unless such initiatives are taken and massive opportunities created, a whole generation may have to suffer in the post-pandemic period.
