Inspiring young researchers

October 23, 2018 00:00:00

In the modern world, research is regarded as the soul of a civilised nation. Research is an area of focus in the colleges and universities in most developed countries. But research is not given due importance in Bangladesh. Most of the public and private universities lack the environment for research as there is a dearth of laboratories, equipment and proper researchers. Most students, even after completing their graduation, do not know the basic methodologies of research.

Dhaka University Research Society (DURS) is the first organisation in the country that involves, inspires and assists young researchers. It was established in December 2016 with the motto "Research for a better world." Currently, nearly 1,000 researchers are connected with the organisation. DURS also arranges weekly and monthly sessions, long and short-term workshops, training workshop for skill development, youth leadership training and more for young researchers.

More such organisations need to be established in colleges and universities to facilitate research that can ensure sustainable development of the country.
