LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Invasive loudspeaker

May 03, 2025 00:00:00

The rampant and unregulated use of loudspeakers and microphones for unsolicited entertainment has made urban life increasingly unbearable. Particularly distressing is the disruption of nighttime tranquility, when loud music and shouting shatter the silence, causing immense suffering to children, students, patients, and working individuals alike. Disturbingly, this nuisance is not limited to night hours; even during the day, without any significant occasion, the unchecked use of loudspeakers and microphones continues. In the name of entertainment, the irresponsible actions of a few often cross the boundaries of personal freedom, infringing on the peace and fundamental rights of many.

This ongoing disturbance is severely affecting the social fabric and natural rhythm of urban life. Scientific studies have shown that exposure to loud sounds can have serious adverse effects on physical and mental health. Excessive noise leads to insomnia, high blood pressure, mental stress, hearing loss, and an increased risk of heart disease. It also hinders brain development in children and worsens the conditions of the elderly and patients. Disturbed sleep cycles, caused by nighttime noise, directly impact productivity, concentration and the overall quality of life. If left unchecked, this problem will pose a grave threat to both public health and social stability.
