The road between Jatrabari and Kajla is an important entry point to Dhaka city. Every day thousands of people use this road. However, the two sides of this busy road below the Mayor Mohammed Hanif Flyover are now in a decrepit condition. Many parts of the road are full of big potholes, with chunks of bricks scattered all over. The road's bitumen has worn away in many places. It is a torturous road, particularly for rickshaw pullers. Many of them now charge double the normal fare due to the dilapidated condition of this thoroughfare.
Poor maintenance of many roads is the main cause of the perennial traffic jam in the city. We urge the authorities concerned to repair the road between Jatrabari and Kajla without any further delay.
