Let's not forget our farmers

Whenever there is a food crisis or price hike of essential commodities, many urban people start talking about food self-sufficiency and support to farmers. In other times, we simply forget our farmers. We even feel shaky over giving them their due recognition. They, on the other hand, always face enormous problems in producing food for us. It is hardly noticed that they are the victims of not only the natural disasters but also hiked prices of petroleum oil, fertilisers, pesticides and irrigation. Sometimes, they even have to face price fall once there is a bumper production of crops, be it paddy or potato.

In such a situation, the country's farmers in different regions need special supports for reviving farming. Many of them desperately need financial support and training to be more productive. Supporting them actually means securing food and offering comfort for consumers.
