Let's stand beside Ranas

The number of street children in Bangladesh is estimated to be more than 700,000. A Dhaka University student named Mahmud HasanTabib has recently highlighted the plight of street children through hip-hop song 'Gullyboy', based on the story of street child,Rana. Through music, he and some other individuals and organisations tried to focus on the sufferings and needs of the street children.

However, quality of life of the street children has not improved despite some noble initiatives including provision of schooling facilities. Perhaps these are not enough to reach all street children. What has been found encouraging is that helping the helpless children brings about changes in their situation.
