Metro rail and city dwellers
February 27, 2019 00:00:00
Long stretches of roads left off-limit for construction are all we have seen in the capital city Dhaka for the last few months. And that too in a city where the population per square kilometre on an average is 23,234! Each day thousands of people are stuck in traffic, they are late for work or tired on way back home. How do we make the situation better?
They say metro rail is the solution to all our traffic problems. Is it really going to end our sufferings on the road? Since the construction is taking very long, people are exhausted. They often face traffic jam. Also, the rail is possibly covering just a few major areas -- not the whole of Dhaka city. This is not enough.
We all hope for a better Bangladesh. Metro rail might be an answer. Something needs to be done straight away so that we can lead our daily lives without wasting much time.
