Murder of MP Liton

ON the New Year night, the news that rocked us was the gruesome murder of the current MP of Gaibandha-1 Monjurul Islam Liton. The police is still investigating into the incident and we sincerely hope that the mystery would be unravelled. Police suspect that it was an act of the militants but they are not sure about it. MP Liton was shot on the  December 31 in his own residence. Later, he died at Rangpur Medical College. He was the second seating MP after SAMS Kibria who was murdered in 2005. The murder of MP Liton gives us a wrong signal about the deteriorating law and order situation in the country. When an incumbent MP is killed in his own living room, it makes us shudder thinking what can happen to common people. Clearly, the broad daylight murder is a challenge for the law enforcers. We saw in the past that many sensational murders like Tonu, Sagar Runi remained shrouded in mystery and the police are yet to locate the killers.  We do not want our country to be a safe haven for the killers and criminals. So. justice and rule of law  must  be established in our country .
