Natural wall against natural disasters

The mangrove forest of the Sundarbans provides coastal communities with several ecosystem services, reducing effects of tropical storms. However, depletion of mangrove trees may increase coastal erosion. Threats posed by human intervention can upset the natural balance.

It is high time to protect the mangrove forest as it has an important role in protecting the coastal ecosystem. Having the largest mangrove forest in the world, Bangladesh has a responsibility to protect it.
