Neck Blast Disease is harmful for paddy

April 17, 2018 00:00:00

A leading newspaper recently published a report on Neck Blast Disease affecting food crops mainly paddy in Sunamganj. According to experts on agriculture, it is a fungal disease that affects food plants at night in cool weather and on other occasions during day time. Farmers of the Sunamganj area are in a state of confusion as they think that they may lose their crops due to the outbreak of Neck Blast Disease on their paddy fields. Most of the farmers of the area are yet to be able to identify symptoms of the disease. Department of Agriculture should arrange to educate the farmers of the area about it. Agriculture universities of our country should conduct further research on the disease and equip the farmers of the area with adequate knowledge to fight the disease. I would like to request the concerned authorities to take immediate steps in this regard so that the farmers of Sunamganj are quickly relieved of their worries regarding the disease.
