Need another railgate at Khilgaon

To improve access to areas such as Mugda, Manda, Maya Kanon, Banasree, Meradia, Sipahi Bag, and Madartek from the business hub of Motijheel and adjacent areas a new railgate is needed halfway between Kamalapur Station and Khilgaon railgate. A large number of people live in these areas, and excessive traffic congestion occurs at Khilgaon railgate, especially during the evening rush hour. The same situation arises in the morning when people head to offices, schools, or business establishments.

Khilgaon railgate is currently the only gateway to this densely populated area of Dhaka. Several educational institutions, such as Notre Dame College, Ideal School and College, and Motijheel Government Boys' and Girls' School and College, are located here, adding to the traffic pressure at the railgate.

If the authorities introduce another railgate between Kamalapur Station and Khilgaon railgate, it would lessen congestion. Commuters, particularly those not using the flyover, travelling to Motijheel and nearby areas could move faster by rickshaw, bicycle, motorbike, or small vehicles.
