Need for a police box

December 24, 2024 00:00:00

The lack of a police box at the Thakurgaon Road Rail Station crossing leading to the Thakurgaon Road Bazar has led to deterioration of law and order in the area. The rampant movement of easy-bikes on the main roads of the market has caused significant traffic violations, with drivers disregarding all traffic laws.

The situation worsens in the afternoon as the market becomes crowded with people, and the chaos continues until night. Frequent collisions between pedestrians and vehicles occur, often escalating into altercations between drivers and passengers. In some cases, these incidents result in clashes and injuries.

Moreover, if a conscious citizen attempts to mediate such disputes, they risk being attacked, as has been reported in several cases.

The Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station is approximately six kilometres away from the Thakurgaon Road Bazar. This means it takes the police around 30 minutes to respond to any criminal activity in the area. Consequently, offenders often escape before they can be apprehended.

To address this pressing issue, it is imperative for the relevant government authorities to establish a permanent police box at Dhurung Bazar without delay. Such a measure is essential for ensuring the safety and security of the market and its surrounding areas.
