Never-ending traffic jams

March 14, 2018 00:00:00

TRAFFIC jams have indeed assumed alarming proportions in the city as well as on the highways. This is particularly annoying in hot and sultry summer. Traffic jam is really a bothersome problem as it takes away a big chunk of our working time everyday. Apart from an awesome number of public transports, too many private vehicles have been choking our traffic movement and making life miserable for us.

Traffic congestion is a universal phenomenon, but cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Delhi and Kolkata have been able to get rid of it through underground metro rail services. We can follow their example and do the same. As the number of vehicles will increase over time, there is no way to stop people from buying cars. Number of cars can however be reduced to an extent, but it will obviously increase with growing population. At present there seems to be no way other than construction and operation of underground train service to save people from the miseries of traffic gridlocks.
