Precaution for mosquito menace

After relatively colder winter in Dhaka this year, mosquitoes are coming back to city habitats. People are yet to forget the outbreak of dengue fever caused by mosquito last year. Thousands of patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and elsewhere. Some cases were reported from villages also.

Still, any initiative is yet to be noticed as to how any such crisis would be prevented. Unless steps are taken now to destroy or clean breeding grounds of mosquitoes in cities and towns across the country, diseases such as dengue, malaria and chikungunya may break out threatening public health. Let's not forget the risks of old diseases amid the hue and cry over coronavirus.
